This article describes how easy you can activate it and what keybindings there are. I recently created a new user profile for myself and missed the keybindings I got used to. To activate it under gnome, it’s enough to run the following command and have shortcuts like C-a, C-e or C-k work again. :) 

gconftool-2 --set /desktop/gnome/interface/gtk_key_theme Emacs --type string
